1712

Collection's History

1712 pays tribute to René Duguay-Trouin, a renowned corsair and officer of the French Navy. Born in Saint-Malo, he distinguished himself through his bravery and naval exploits, becoming an iconic figure of the navy under Louis XIV. He ultimately achieved the prestigious rank of Lieutenant General of the Royal Navy, one of the highest honors of his time.

We named this collection 1712 in reference to the year he brought Noguette back to Saint-Malo — a bell from the cathedral that has been ringing every evening at 10 PM since 1804. Known as Nox Quieta (“quiet night”), it once signaled the closing of the fortified city’s gates, while the watchmen’s dogs guarded its safety.
